There's a big shift under way in the electronic gadget market from miniUSB connectors to microUSB.
Why can't they just leave things alone?
In any event, I have a bunch of moderately costly USB to miniUSB retractable cables along with a much larger bunch of ordinary USB-to-miniUSB cables and AC adapters.
I'm not about to consign all of them to the trash, so I bought a couple of these miniUSB to microUSB adapters.
I bought these, in particular, because they have a lanyard that serves to attach them, for example, to my retractable cable so the adapter is not only handy, but I now have a dual-connector arrangement.
These cables, for whatever it matters, are Motorola branded.
They're well made, feel durable and, most important, work on everything I've tried them with (four devices in all) for both power and data.

Given the proliferation of BOTH mini-USB and micro-USB based devices, the average gadget-aholic's cable clutter knows no bounds.
This simple adapter can save you half of it, giving you the functionality of both worlds.

I was looking for an adapter to take with me on my travels for my Kindle 2. This adapter works so that now I use it with my Belkin retractable USB to Mini USB cable eliminating the need to bring the Kindle cable with me.
It is solidly made and looks like it will last for many years.
